Job summary

HSBC Global Services Limited in Guernsey seeks an Area Director to lead the Premier team, guiding relationship managers across banking, lending, investment and insurance needs. You will oversee a customer portfolio and champion high-quality financial planning and client outcomes.

The role requires a Level 4 Financial Planning Diploma, strong advisory experience, and the ability to build long-term partnerships with major clients while developing the team and driving performance.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 4 Financial Planning Diploma.
• Bring proven experience providing holistic financial advice across a wide range of products and services.
• Demonstrate experience in a Wealth Adviser, IFA, Financial Planning Manager or similar role.
• Apply deep knowledge of financial planning and wealth products to customer needs.
• Deliver needs-based solutions through effective communication, influencing and sales skills.
• Build long-term partnerships and manage complex relationships with significant clients.
• Manage team performance through objective setting, timely feedback and structured development planning.
• Coach others by identifying development needs, closing knowledge gaps and reinforcing effective behaviours.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of retail banking products and services.
• Communicate clearly in writing and speaking with colleagues and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Guernsey Premier Team to meet Islands customers’ banking, lending, investment and insurance needs.
• Manage a portfolio of customers and advise on holistic financial planning as a trusted adviser.
• Coach and develop relationship managers to strengthen capability and performance.
• Apply the IWPB Operating Model and guidelines to deliver consistent people management and outcomes.
• Build internal and external connections that strengthen the HSBC brand in Guernsey.
• Monitor sales activity and management information to focus the team on goals.
• Conduct regular team and one-to-one sessions to set priorities and address risks.
• Recruit and onboard relationship managers in line with headcount plans.
• Set objectives, run performance reviews and address underperformance.
• Evaluate performance against KPIs and provide incentive recommendations.
