Job summary

IPS Group is seeking a Regional Underwriting Manager- Technical Lead to oversee high-value regional risks from Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or Glasgow. Salary up to £115,000 plus car allowance and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will be the senior technical underwriting authority outside the central function, guiding branches, shaping strategy and elevating underwriting performance across the region.

Qualifications

• Extensive commercial underwriting experience in UK market.
• Strong Property and Casualty underwriting expertise.
• Experience handling high-value risks (hundreds of millions).
• Proven ability to support programme placements and complex structures.
• Sound technical decision-making in high-stakes situations.
• Experience coaching and influencing senior underwriters.
• Strong broker and client relationship management skills.
• Credibility to operate as a senior technical leader in a matrix organisation.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior regional authority for complex underwriting referrals and decisions.
• Support Branch Underwriting Managers in structuring solutions for high-value risks.
• Drive underwriting standards, governance and technical excellence regionally.
• Lead development and coaching of underwriting teams.
• Influence regional strategy and align with business objectives.
• Support major tenders and strategic deals.
• Build relationships with brokers, clients and stakeholders.
• Analyze performance data to improve effectiveness and reduce referrals.
• Champion profitable growth while balancing risk and customer outcomes.
