Regional Underwriting Assistant - Salary is competitive

Location - Cardiff

We are currently looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join the Aviva business.

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will be responsible for servicing brokers, underwriting new business, renewals, and MTAs. This role is suitable for someone with a broking or underwriting background who is passionate about developing their career. While experience is desirable, full training can be provided.

You will be aligned to a portfolio of brokers/customers to proactively develop and grow their commercial book of business profitably. Partnering with brokers and customers to understand their needs, using data insights to provide comprehensive customer solutions.

This role requires travel to broker visits across Wales & The South West, so flexibility with travel is necessary.

A bit about the job:

• Operate as a multiclass Underwriting Assistant within guidelines and authority levels to grow the business profitably.
• Build confidence and relationships through face-to-face meetings with brokers and customers.
• Manage end-to-end dealings with brokers/customers.
• Align with Aviva's regional SME & Mid Market trading strategy.
• Develop understanding of the commercial insurance sector.
• Participate in Aviva's training programs to enhance knowledge and skills.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Previous property & liability and/or fleet underwriting experience is preferred but not essential; full training provided.
• Ability to analyze risks and communicate effectively with brokers and customers.
• Ability to collaborate within a large organization.
• Knowledge of FCA regulations and legislation is preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen for creating and delivering business cases.
