Regional Underwriting Assistant - Salary is competitive

Location - Cardiff

We are currently looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join the Aviva business.

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will be responsible for servicing brokers, underwriting new business, renewals, and MTAs. This role would be great for someone who comes from a broking or underwriting background and is passionate about developing in their career; however, while experience is desirable, full training can be provided.

You will be aligned to a portfolio of brokers/customers to proactively develop and profitably grow their commercial book of business. Partnering with brokers and customers to truly understand their wants and needs, using data insight to ensure we provide whole customer solutions which support these.

This role does require you to go out on broker visits across Wales & The South West, so there is a need to be flexible with travel.

A bit about the job:

• To be a multiclass Underwriting Assistant who operates within agreed guidelines and authority levels to profitably grow the book of business.

• Great communicator who regularly has meaningful face-to-face meetings with brokers and/or customers to build their confidence in us and to make Aviva their insurer of choice.

• Deal end-to-end with brokers/customers' book of business.

• Embrace and understand Aviva's regional SME & Mid Market trading strategy.

• Be curious to grow understanding of the commercial business.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Previous property & liability and/or fleet underwriting experience is preferred, but not essential - Full training can be provided.

• The ability to analyse risks and communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customers.

• Work collaboratively within a large complex organisation.

• Good knowledge of the FCA and other relevant regulation and legislation is preferred.

• Strong commercial business acumen to create and deliver business cases.
