Job summary

Breedon Group plc is seeking a Regional Transport Leader to oversee transport operations across the region, driving safe, efficient and cost-effective service to support customers and the wider business.

You will lead a team including Area Transport Managers and Supervisors, work with hauliers and central logistics to deliver against the transport strategy, ensure compliance, and foster continuous improvement across Fleet and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in transport management, ideally within a large, multi-site operation.
• A CPC qualification.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing, coaching and developing teams.
• A thorough understanding of transport legislation, operator compliance and health and safety requirements.
• Commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, controlling costs and improving operational performance.
• Experience working with owner drivers, third-party hauliers and external contractors.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• An analytical and proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the regional transport team, including Area Transport Managers and Transport Supervisors.
• Champion safety culture, ensuring health, safety and transport compliance.
• Oversee regional fleet performance, improving vehicle utilisation and efficiency.
• Manage regional transport budgets, driving cost control and financial performance.
• Develop and maintain relationships with owner drivers, contract hauliers and suppliers.
• Collaborate with Distribution, Commercial and Production teams to align capacity with requirements.
• Support fleet strategy development, capacity planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Use data, KPIs and transport technology to identify trends and implement improvements.
• Lead driver engagement, recruitment, training and development.
• Assist in implementing new systems, processes and initiatives to enhance transport performance.
