Do you have the skills, knowledge and ambition to lead the transformation of how over 710,000 people, communities and businesses connect in South West Wales?
As Regional Transport Lead, you will set the direction, build the partnerships and drive the investment needed to deliver a greener, more inclusive and better-connected South West Wales.
The South West Wales Corporate Joint Committee brings together Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea councils, alongside Bannau Brycheiniog and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authorities. Together, we are driving joined-up action across transport, strategic planning, economic development and energy.
Our goal is clear: a more connected, competitive and resilient region where transport unlocks opportunity, supports sustainable growth and improves everyday lives.
We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Regional Transport Lead to take ownership of one of the CJC’s most visible and influential agendas.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will work with senior leaders, elected Members, local authority transport teams, Welsh Government, Transport for Wales and regional partners to turn shared priorities into funded, deliverable programmes.
You will lead the Regional Transport Plan and its delivery programmes - from scheme prioritisation, business cases and funding to assurance and performance. You will champion public transport, active travel, community transport, road and rail connectivity, freight, accessibility and rural mobility, ensuring transport investment advances the region’s economic, energy and strategic planning ambitions.
You will bring a strong track record in transport planning, policy, infrastructure and complex programme delivery, gained within or alongside local government or the wider public sector. You will understand the Welsh transport landscape and be ready to give clear, credible advice on investment, risk and delivery.
You can make sense of complex evidence, win commitment across organisational boundaries and inspire multidisciplinary teams to deliver.
Strategic, resilient and politically astute, you will thrive in a high-profile environment where sound judgement, pace and strong relationships matter.
This is a rare chance to shape major transport investment and influence how South West Wales moves, grows and prospers. You will operate at the heart of regional decision-making, with the platform to turn strategy into lasting change.
