Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead the North West and Cumbria region, overseeing a diverse asset portfolio and ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of operational performance.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will drive regional strategy, lead high‑performing teams, manage budgets, and champion continuous improvement while developing future leaders within a heavy industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering operational results in aggregates, asphalt, quarrying or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice.
• Proven ability to lead through managers, coaching, developing and empowering teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior level.
• Data-driven decision making and budgeting experience.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams to meet safety, operational and financial targets.
• Own design and delivery of the annual regional strategy.
• Drive continuous improvement and share best practices across the business.
• Manage regional budgets and control costs.
• Monitor KPI performance and implement improvements.
• Lead customer complaint reviews, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Align production, sales and resource planning to maximise returns.
• Manage Capex planning and the five-year investment plan.
• Support estate planning and quarry development activities with Land & Natural Resources teams.
• Champion sustainability objectives and embed sustainable ways of working across operations.
• Develop, retain and coach talented leaders and future successors.
