Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Neurologist to join the Neurology Directorate within a regional tertiary neurosciences service. This role supports patients across Lancashire and South Cumbria while developing their clinical, teaching, leadership and research interests.

Qualifications

• MRCP or equivalent postgraduate general medical experience.
• Within 6 months of appointment, must gain CCT in neurology or equivalent training obtained outside the EU leading to entry on the specialist register.
• Post-CCT fellowship training in Epilepsy or Neuromuscular Disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level neurology input across outpatient, inpatient and multidisciplinary settings.
• Conduct outpatient clinics at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and peripheral sites as needed.
• Participate in the neurology on-call rota (week-on basis).
• Support inpatient care and investigations through access to beds at the Regional Neuroscience Unit.
• Lead outpatient clinics at Royal Preston Hospital and other sites as required.
• Contribute to audit, clinical governance, service improvement and patient safety activity.
• Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including supervision of doctors in training.
• Maintain professional development and participate in annual appraisal and revalidation.

Education
