Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a Regional Bank Chef to support the culinary operation across Birmingham and surrounding areas. You will lead a kitchen team, plan nutritionally balanced, appetising meals, and ensure service quality while keeping within budget.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in busy kitchens, strong health and safety knowledge (COSHH), NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent, and proven leadership abilities to guide unqualified staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in a busy kitchen.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation, COSHH, and maintaining high hygiene standards.
• NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent and related catering qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by Home Manager, ensuring varied, nutritious meals.
• Place food orders with approved suppliers, within authority and budget limits.
• Supervise and direct kitchen staff and trainees, demonstrating basic food preparation to unqualified staff.
• Understand and apply Avery Food Safety Management system to maintain high standards of hygiene.
