Job summary

Westwood Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Refuse Loader to join a municipal waste collection team. The role involves loading refuse, operating basic equipment, and helping maintain vehicles and sites. The ideal candidate should be physically fit, able to work outdoors in all weather, and follow health and safety procedures.

Training is provided, and this is a Monday to Friday 06:00–14:00 shift. This position offers the chance to contribute to community wellbeing and gain practical experience

Qualifications

• Previous experience in waste collection or a similar manual labour role is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
• Demonstrated physical fitness and stamina to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
• A proactive attitude towards safety procedures and team collaboration is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Collect and load refuse from designated areas onto collection vehicles, ensuring all waste is safely secured.
• Operate basic mechanical equipment used in waste collection, with training provided if necessary.
• Assist with the maintenance and minor repairs of collection vehicles and equipment.
• Follow health and safety protocols at all times, including the proper handling of hazardous materials when required.
• Ensure all collected waste is disposed of in accordance with local regulations and company policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including the loading zone and vehicle interiors.
• Assist in the organisation of collection routes to optimise efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
