Job summary

East Suffolk Services Limited is recruiting an HGV Driver/Loader in Lowestoft. The role involves driving refuse collection vehicles and loading waste while prioritising health and safety and customer care.

You will act as chargehand for the vehicle and crew each day, and support in-cab tech to keep routes accurate. The position is permanent, 40 hours per week over 4 days (Tue–Fri), with a salary of £35,219–£38,454 per annum.

Qualifications

• Reliable and safety-conscious candidate.
• Able to work as part of a team and comply with health and safety requirements.
• CPC-qualified with LGV2/C licence and full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV refuse collection vehicles and load refuse, recycling, garden and other waste.
• Prioritise health, safety and excellent customer care on every round.
• Act as chargehand for the vehicle and crew and manage daily operations.
• Assist with in-cab technology and ensure accurate route information.

We currently have opportunities to join our Waste and Recycling team as a Refuse HGV Driver/Loader.

Your role:

You’ll be responsible for driving HGV Refuse Collection Vehicles and loading refuse, recycling, garden, food waste, and sacks onto the lorry—always prioritising health, safety, and excellent customer care. This role is essential in keeping our streets clean and tidy.

As the Driver for your round, you’ll also act as chargehand, taking accountability for the vehicle and crew each day. In addition, you’ll assist with in-cab technology, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all information related to your route.

What you will need:

You will need to hold a full UK Driver’s License, an LGV Class 2 Category C licence and a valid driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
