Job summary

Morgan Hunt is seeking an experienced Family Support Worker to provide risk-assessed, strengths-based support to women and children living in accommodation after domestic abuse. You will help develop safety plans, access services, and promote safe, independent living for families.

The role involves managing a diverse caseload, carrying out risk assessments, and advocating with housing, health, social care and other services while maintaining confidential case notes.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable children and/or adults.
• Experience supporting women and/or children affected by domestic abuse.
• Experience managing a caseload and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding for adults and children.
• An understanding of homelessness, substance misuse, mental health and offending and the support available.
• Understanding of psychological trauma and its impact on behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality casework support to women and children affected by domestic abuse.
• Manage a varied caseload, prioritising cases effectively and responding to individual needs and risks.
• Complete risk and needs assessments and develop individual and family safety plans.
• Advocate for women and children with external agencies, including housing, health, social care, courts and other support services.
• Complete appropriate risk assessments for children and young people, including Teen DASH RIC where required.
• Make referrals to MARAC where assessments identify high levels of risk.
• Attend case reviews, team meetings and multi-agency meetings.
• Support safeguarding processes and produce written reports for external agencies where required.
• Undertake housing management responsibilities, including supporting with rent accounts, service charges, housing-related benefits and utility payments.
• Complete health and safety property checks and report any maintenance or incidents.
• Support with licence agreements, admission paperwork and contractor or maintenance visits.

Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £27, 239 (unqualified) - £28, 907 (qualified)
Position: Temp to Perm
DBS: Enhanced DBS required
Driving: Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle required
Role: Women only community

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Family Support Worker to provide specialist support to women and children living in accommodation following experiences of domestic abuse.
You will work closely with families throughout their journey, providing risk-assessed, strengths-based and needs-led support. You will help women and children develop safety plans, access appropriate services and work towards safe and independent living.
The role involves supporting both women and children, helping families understand the impact of domestic abuse and providing practical and emotional support to strengthen family relationships and wellbeing.

About You

You will ideally have:

• Experience working with vulnerable children and/or adults.
• Experience supporting women and/or children affected by domestic abuse.
• Experience managing a caseload and working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding for adults and children.
• An understanding of the practical, emotional, social and economic impact of domestic abuse on women, children and families.
• Understanding of homelessness, substance misuse, mental health and offending and the support available.
• An understanding of psychological trauma and its impact on behaviour.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.
• The ability to maintain accurate and detailed case notes and handle sensitive information confidentially.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Relevant safeguarding training or qualification covering adults and children.
• Women's Aid or SafeLives training such as DAPA or IDVA/YPVA would be desirable.
• Enhanced DBS required.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Access to your own vehicle, insured for business use, is essential.
