Job description

This is a key position, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across several site locations.

You will be the first line in all service and maintenance throughout your allocated sites.

To effectively maintain service and repair refrigeration equipment in customer locations and provide assistance to HVAC equipment containing refrigeration circuits.

Engineering teams provide 24-hour service coverage throughout the year to customer equipment through planned and extended working hours, including participation in standby rota procedures.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times.
  2. Identify non-repairable faults promptly and advise the Line manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacements.
  3. Ensure PPM schedules are completed within agreed timescales and that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and according to procedures.
  4. Ensure all technical and compliance paperwork is always completed and up to date.
  5. Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota. Responsible for arranging and communicating cover required due to holidays or unforeseen circumstances to the line manager.
  6. Be aware of regulations and codes of practice applicable to the tasks.
  7. Order and fit parts or components as prescribed by company procedures.
  8. Notify the helpdesk of procedural task conditions on cessation of works.
  9. Advise GSMs of any repair, maintenance, and installation issues that may affect store operations and foster good relationships with GSMs.
  10. Respond promptly to service call requests from the Helpdesk, assess job requirements, and carry out necessary repairs.
  11. Carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the refrigeration supervisor/RFM.
  12. Complete all work to high standards efficiently and cost-effectively, complying with health and safety policies.
  13. Complete tasks within the allotted time to the satisfaction of the company and client.
  14. Proficient in written and verbal communication, report writing, and record-keeping procedures.
  15. Attend training courses as necessary to keep skills up to date with technical and business developments.
  16. Ensure all mandatory Evolve online training modules are completed.
  17. Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and company policies at all times.
  18. Work with company and ASDA colleagues to maintain quality standards.
  19. Represent the company professionally and develop good working relationships with City and ASDA colleagues.
  20. Follow any other reasonable instructions from the City Management Team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Time Served Apprenticeship
  • NVQ/C&G Refrigeration-Based Qualification
  • Approved Training Program
  • Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate
  • Skill Card
  • Refrigeration, Electrical, Air Conditioning & Mechanical knowledge
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Competent in the use of Access Equipment
  • Current Full driving licence essential
  • Available for Out of Hours Working
  • GCSE
  • City or Other Accredited Future Legislation
