Job summary

Trant Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor for a fixed-term contract at the Fawley refinery, Southampton.

You will provide hands-on, site-based safety leadership across the project, helping maintain a strong safety culture and regulatory compliance. You will lead safety training, conduct site inspections, investigations, and support documentation, working with on-site teams and the client to deliver the project safely during shutdown periods.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent required.
• IOSH membership and active engagement with safety standards.
• Experience in SHE/H&S roles within engineering or construction sectors.
• Solid knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
• Proven ability to identify, analyse and mitigate hazards.
• Experience developing safety procedures and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of SHE policies and safe systems of work.
• Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Lead or support incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Provide SHE advice aligned with legislation and client requirements.
• Assist with CDM 2015 compliance and HSE regulations.
• Provide feedback to site teams after audits and incidents.
• Promote continuous safety improvements and risk management.
• Verify subcontractor compliance and maintain documentation.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety trainings.
