Job summary

Panda’s Clover Nook site in Alfreton is recruiting a Yard Operative to help keep the recycling yard running safely and efficiently. You’ll load and unload vehicles, sort recyclables, and operate mobile plant under direction from the Site Manager.

We require NPORS qualifications for plant operation, with experience on loading shovels and 360° material handlers. A practical approach to checks, safety, and housekeeping is essential for this hands‑on role.

Qualifications

• NPORS qualifications are essential for operating plant machinery.
• Experience operating mobile plant safely and confidently.
• Ability to perform routine machine checks and maintenance.
• Strong focus on safety and keeping the work area tidy.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload containers and curtain‑sided vehicles.
• Sort recyclable materials to support recovery.
• Operate mobile plant as directed by the Site Manager (forklifts, shovels, handlers).
• Carry out pre‑use checks and report defects.
• Maintain plant cleanliness and conduct routine maintenance.
• Follow risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Communicate with colleagues and support site duties.
• Wash down machinery at shift end and ensure yard kept tidy.
