At Serco, we're pleased to be recruiting on behalf of Basingstoke and Deane Leisure Trust.
Basingstoke and Deane Leisure Trust encourages active, healthy lifestyles across the local community. Providing affordable access to a wide range of sports and leisure facilities in a safe, clean, friendly and welcoming space, their goal is to support healthier and happier lives for everyone. Delivering these services relies on an enthusiastic, customer-focused team, and they're now looking for Lifeguards to join their team and help make a positive difference every day.
As a Lifeguard you’ll be an important part of life here at the centre as you ensure that everyone can use the pool in safety and that they have access to everything they need to enjoy their visit.
Without you there can’t be any pool activity. But you won’t be working alone. Our leisure centre has a close knit and supportive team, all working towards providing an inclusive leisure hub for the entire community. You will also receive fantastic training and development opportunities and benefits including free leisure access and other various discounts.
You’ll need to have excellent customer service skills as you’ll be interacting heavily with our customers. So, whether you’ve earned that experience in a leisure or another customer-facing environment, you’ll be a people person who is happy dealing with people of all ages and backgrounds.
You will be providing customer care to people of all ages, supervising activities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the pool area, and ensuring the safe handling and set up of pool equipment. And of course, when needed - you’ll help to save lives.
As a lifeguard you’ll naturally need to be safety conscious, vigilant, and able to deal with pressurised situations. Lastly, you’ll need to have strong swimming skills and it’s essential that you hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (Royal Life Saving Society).
Meaningful and vital work: Swimming pools are the beating hearts of our leisure centres and without lifeguards we can’t operate. You ensure that our customers can enjoy their activity in safety and when needed you save lives.
A world of opportunity: Our lifeguards are integral to the running of our centres, so as well progressing into senior lifeguard positions you can move into other centre management roles in one of our 55 facilities.
Great people: Our centres are close-knit and friendly, and we rely on each other for support. As well as the backing of the team you’ll also find all the resources you need for career progression through Serco Learning.
