As a Recovery & Resolution Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting Northern’s Recovery & Resolution Team, helping cases move smoothly from initial contact through to resolution. You’ll be trusted with sensitive information, important documentation and evidence — so your eye for detail, organisation and integrity will make a real difference.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, has an interest in law, investigations or compliance, and wants to build their experience in a busy, purpose-driven environment.

What you'll be doing

No two days will be quite the same. You’ll provide essential administrative support across the Recovery & Resolution process, making sure our records, evidence and communications are accurate, complete and handled within the required timescales

  • Maintain accurate case documentation and records, ensuring information is filed and archived correctly
  • Handle correspondence, standard letters, post, telephone calls and emails, responding appropriately or triaging enquiries where needed

  • Request and preserve relevant images and footage, ensuring evidence is available when it is needed
  • Review images and footage and arrange for bystanders to be appropriately redacted where required
  • Help create comprehensive evidence bundles by downloading files and ensuring all relevant evidence and documentation
  • Use case management systems, databases and platforms to keep cases progressing, including uploading information to the Common Platform Identify and elevate issues to the Recovery & Resolution Delivery Manager where appropriate
  • Support new team members and contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment
  • Look for opportunities to learn, develop and improve the way we work
  • Handle personal and sensitive information responsibly, in line with the UK Data Protection Act
  • Demonstrate Northern’s values every day, working with honesty, integrity and confidentiality

About You

We’re looking for someone who is organised, conscientious and naturally curious — someone who takes pride in getting the details right and can be relied upon to follow things through

  • Excellent attention to detail and a proven ability to maintain accuracy when handling information and data
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using Microsoft packages and digital systems
  • The ability to work independently while also being a supportive and committed team player
  • A calm and resilient approach, particularly when working under pressure
  • The flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and respond positively to new challenges
  • A genuine interest in law, investigations, compliance or the railway environment would be an advantage
  • The professionalism and discretion needed to handle confidential and sensitive information
