Job summary

Forward Trust in Chelmsford is seeking a RECONNECT Trainee to support people as they prepare to leave prison and transition back into the community. You will gain hands-on experience while working toward a Level 2 apprenticeship in a relevant qualification, with the apprenticeship taking approximately 12-18 months to complete.

Qualifications

• Caring, motivated and keen to learn with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable adults.
• No extensive experience required; volunteering or student placement acceptable.
• Ability to build positive professional relationships.
• Responds well to feedback and committed to development.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals and provide updates to referrers after assessment.
• Learn to complete comprehensive needs assessments for referrals.
• Maintain regular contact with service users for up to six months post-release.
• Support a holistic and safe service aligned with targets.
• Collaborate with colleagues and share best practice on risk assessment.
• Make referrals to Meet and Greet and support Meet at the Gate referrals.
• Help service users connect with local health, wellbeing and community services before release.
• Develop administration and case management skills, keeping clear case notes.
