Job summary

Riddings Family Health Centre in Timperley, Altrincham invites applications for a Receptionist - Care Navigator - Administrator working 31 hours per week within a small friendly practice team. You will provide reception and administration services to patients and colleagues, with duties including managing appointments and data entry.

The role requires empathetic communication, strong IT skills, and the ability to work as part of a team; training will be provided, and prior healthcare experience

Qualifications

  • Empathetic with patients and able to communicate well.
  • Good telephone manner and communication skills.
  • Good IT skills with Microsoft Office; healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade A-C.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately detail information on patients records within the clinical system.
  • Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.
  • Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments.
  • Assist with triage administration and answer incoming calls.
  • Signpost patients to the correct service and support clinical staff with admin tasks.
  • Data entry of registrations and relevant patient information.
  • Direct requests to the administrative team and manage routine queries.

Job description

Riddings Family Health Centre is looking for a Receptionist - Care Navigator - Administrator for 31 hours per week to join our small friendly practice team in Timperley, Altrincham., The main duties of the role include providing reception and administration services to our patient population and wider healthcare colleagues. A full description of main duties can be found in the Job Description., The following are the core responsibilities of a Receptionist / administrator in delivering health services. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: a. Accurately detail information on patients records within the clinical system b. Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system c. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments Assist with total triage administration e. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately f. Signpost patients to the correct service g. Initiate contact with and respond to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies h. Photocopy documentation as required i. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required j. Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary k. Direct requests for information, i.e., DSAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team l. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner m. Carry out system searches as requested n. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested o. Undertake a broad spectrum of administrative duties commensurate with the role p. Be an integral part of the general practice team q. Act as a chaperone as required r. Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on safeguarding adults and safeguarding children s. Support in the delivery of enhanced services and other service requirements t. Undertake all mandatory training and induction programmes u. Contribute to and embrace the spectrum of clinical governance v. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times w. Attend a formal appraisal with their manager at least every 12 months. Once a performance/training objective has been set, progress will be reviewed on a regular basis so that new objectives can be agreed x. Undertake call and re-call duties for QOF, Enhanced Services and other Schemes as required. y. Any other duties deemed necessary for the smooth running of the organisation. Wider responsibilities In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Receptionist has the following wider responsibilities: a. Support administrative staff, providing cover during staff absences and attend Protected Learning Time monthly or more frequently if required. Also attend and contribute to Practice Meetings when required. b. Action incoming emails and correspondence as necessary c. Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients healthcare records d. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care e. Support in the management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently f. Support and participate in shared learning

  • Empathetic with patients and able to communicate well with them.
  • Good telephone manner and communication skills.
  • Good IT skills with microsoft office packages, Experience in a healthcare setting would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given., GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths, Previous experience in general practice would be desirable. We are a small surgery covering Timperley and the surrounding areas with a registered patient population of approximately 3,700 patients and growing fast.
