Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Antenatal Clinic at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. This part-time, permanent role supports reception, patient registration and appointment scheduling with a focus on accuracy and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient reception and administrative support in the Antenatal Clinic.
  • Register patients on the system and book/arrange appointments.
  • Answer calls and assist with general ward/reception duties.
  • Follow rostered instructions with attention to detail.
  • Support 24/7 service requirements including evenings and weekends.

Within this role there are a clear set of instructions to follow for each part of the roster, therefore ability to follow given instructions and pay attention to detail are a must.

Please note our service runs 24/7 therefore you will be expected to work evenings and weekends.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • To provide and maintain an efficient and reliable 24 hour admissions service for women attending the Maternity Unit.
  • To provide an efficient out-patient service for women attend the Maternity Assessment Unit for urgent out-patient and day case care.
  • To ensure patient documents are prepared and delivered to the maternity unit in a timely manner
  • To provide admissions information to patients, relatives and staff
  • To deal with telephone enquires promptly
  • To provide assistance and guidance to the patients/visitors on arrival to the hospital
