For many patients, our Reception team is their first point of contact with the practice. Whether they’re arriving for an appointment, calling with a question or trying to access the right service, the way we respond can make a real difference to their experience.
We’re looking for a Bank Receptionist / Administrator to join our team at Allied Medical Practice, providing flexible cover when our practice needs additional support.
You’ll work at the heart of a 2 busy GP practices, supporting patients while helping our clinical and administrative teams keep services organised and running smoothly.
No two shifts are quite the same. You could be welcoming patients, booking appointments, processing prescriptions, answering telephone enquiries, updating patient records, managing registrations or liaising with hospitals and community services.
You don’t necessarily need previous GP practice experience. If you have good administrative or customer service experience, are confident dealing with the public and can stay organised when things get busy, we’d like to hear from you. Previous experience within healthcare or a GP practice would be particularly valuable.
This is more than answering phones and booking appointments. You’ll be part of the team that helps patients navigate their care and keeps our practice moving every day.
Being a friendly and professional first point of contact, checking patients in, responding to questions and helping them access the right support.
Booking appointments and responding to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries, taking accurate messages and making sure information reaches the right person.
Processing repeat prescription requests, receiving patient specimens, supporting referrals and helping patients use our online services.
Updating electronic patient records, scanning correspondence, processing registrations and ensuring information is recorded accurately and confidentially.
Communicating with hospitals, community services and other healthcare colleagues to help referrals and patient information reach the right place.
Supporting general administration, processing post and emails, maintaining stationery and helping keep reception, waiting and consulting areas ready for patients and colleagues.
Providing additional cover when the practice needs it, including periods of annual leave, sickness and increased demand, with Saturday or additional hours available where required.
Handling sensitive patient information every day and maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, information governance and data protection.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in providing great service and wants the flexibility of working on a Bank basis within a GP practice.
