Mō mātou – Our Organisation: Te Tiriti o Waitangi is the founding document which defines the relationship between Māori and the Crown in Aotearoa New Zealand. It affirms both tangata whenua status of whānau, hapu, and iwi in Aotearoa New Zealand, and their rights to citizenship. Te Tiriti provides a basis for Māori to critically analyze relationships, challenge the status quo, and affirm Māori rights.

At Arowhenua Whānau Services, our purpose is to ensure that the needs of Māori living in the Takiwā of Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua are responded to appropriately by bringing whānau, hapū, iwi, and Māori community development into a relationship with health, social services, and education provision.

Mō te tūranga | About the role: The Kaiwhakarite is responsible for welcoming manuhiri/whānau positively at the front desk and delivering administrative tasks to high standards. They will process referrals, perform data entry, and handle various administrative duties.

  • Greet and welcome visitors and whānau.
  • Provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate empathy and respect.
  • Ensure high-quality customer service.
  • Maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Be innovative, adaptable, and perform well under pressure.
  • Have a friendly, team-oriented attitude.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Handle incoming calls and inquiries.
  • Maintain a tidy reception area.
  • Provide information via in person, phone, and email.
  • Manage mail, supplies, and office inventory.
  • Assist with scheduling, clerical duties, and workplace orientation.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Update policies and ensure compliance.
  • Manage referral calls and data entry accurately.

Other requirements:

  • Current NZ full driver’s license.
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Personal qualities: Empathy, trust-building, cultural sensitivity, relational skills, and professionalism.

Applicants will be screened, and successful candidates will undergo vetting under the Vulnerable Children’s Act and Ministry of Justice and Police checks. A copy of a full driver’s license is required for next steps.
