Are you an experienced and welcoming receptionist seeking a rewarding opportunity in the education sector? Our specialist education recruitment agency is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established Multi Academy Trust to recruit for a newly developed specialist SEN provision opening this summer in the beautiful Tavistock area of Devon.

We are proud to be a trusted staffing partner of this respected Trust, already supporting several of their specialist schools across Devon and Cornwall. This exciting new provision will cater to pupils aged 7 - 16 with autism and emotionally based school avoidance, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

This is a rare opportunity to join a school from its opening phase, helping to establish a warm, professional and nurturing front-facing environment where staff, pupils, families and visitors feel valued and supported.

Role Overview

As the School Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the school community and visitors. This varied and fulfilling role will involve a mix of front-of-house, administrative, communication and data-handling responsibilities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and upholding high safeguarding and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and manage sign-in systems in line with safeguarding procedures
  • Handle incoming calls, emails and appointment bookings with discretion and efficiency
  • Provide administrative support for school events, trips and internal meetings
  • Maintain and update pupil records and school management systems
  • Process school meal orders and manage related communications with staff and families
  • Assist with census returns, attendance tracking and HR/recruitment administration
  • Coordinate communication platforms including text messaging, social media and newsletters
  • Support the school website and ensure all online content is accurate and current
  • Manage reception area standards and oversee general school supplies and post handling
  • Contribute to emergency procedures and fire evacuation protocols

Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (including English and Maths)
  • Experience in reception, administration or office-based roles - ideally within a school setting
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and school-based IT systems
  • Able to multitask and work effectively in a busy, ever-changing environment
  • A friendly, professional manner with a proactive, team-oriented approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting children and young people

Why Apply Through Us?

  • Access to exclusive roles within the Trust
  • Ongoing support and communication throughout the recruitment process
  • Deep understanding of the school’s ethos and values
