Senploy is seeking a qualified SEND Teacher to lead a small specialist class in Hackney, focusing on early developmental learning for KS1/KS2 students. You will work within a multidisciplinary team with Teaching Assistants and therapists, delivering differentiated lessons aligned to each child’s developmental level.
The role offers a temp-to-perm pathway, term-time structure, and collaboration with SEND professionals to support meaningful progress for each pupil.
Pay: From £180 per day, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Temp-to-Perm
A child's age doesn't always tell you where their learning needs to begin.
A pupil may be seven, nine or eleven years old but still be developing the communication, early literacy, numeracy and independence skills usually associated with much younger children.
That's where specialist teaching becomes so important.
A welcoming SEND provision in Hackney is looking for a nurturing and experienced Reception-Level SEND Teacher to lead a small class of KS1 and KS2 pupils working at early developmental stages.
This is a full-time, term-time opportunity with a temp-to-perm pathway, offering the chance to become an established member of a specialist team where progress is understood and celebrated differently.
You'll teach pupils whose chronological age may be very different from their developmental learning level.
That means traditional age-related curriculum expectations won't always be the right starting point.
Instead, you'll consider:
What can this child currently do?
How do they communicate?
What helps them engage?
What is the next meaningful step for them?
Your teaching will focus heavily on areas including:
You'll create learning experiences that are accessible, purposeful and engaging while helping pupils gradually build the foundations for future progress.
You'll lead a small specialist class with support from Teaching Assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Success isn't always completing a worksheet or reaching an age-related academic target. It could be a pupil independently making a choice. Recognising a familiar word or symbol. Counting objects accurately for the first time. Communicating a need without adult prompting. Remaining engaged in an activity for longer. Moving successfully between two parts of the school day. These achievements can be significant milestones - and you'll need to be a teacher who recognises their importance.
This role would particularly suit a teacher who already understands specialist education and enjoys finding different routes into learning.
This isn't necessarily a short-term stop in your teaching career.
The role offers a clear temp-to-perm pathway, giving you the opportunity to get to know the pupils, develop relationships with the team and potentially move into a permanent position.
The provision operates in line with the Jewish academic calendar, so applicants should be comfortable working within the school's particular term structure.
In specialist education, the question isn't:
"Where should this child be for their age?"
It's:
"Where are they now - and what can we help them achieve next?"
If you're an experienced SEND Teacher looking for a specialist teaching opportunity in Hackney, and you understand the importance of teaching from a child's developmental starting point, we'd love to hear from you.
