Job summary

Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust in Gateshead is seeking a dedicated Reception Class Teaching Assistant (Level 3) to support high-quality learning in the Early Years. Support the delivery of high-quality learning within a Reception class, working closely with the Early Years Teacher to provide engaging play-based learning opportunities, phonics teaching, and early reading support. The role involves supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing, contributing to observations and assessments, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and helping pupils develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. The postholder will also support children with additional educational, behavioural, medical or emotional needs, work collaboratively with parents and professionals, and contribute to the wider life of the school.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience of working within an Early Years or primary school setting. The successful candidate will hold a relevant Level 3 qualification, have GCSEs in English and Maths, and demonstrate a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and child development. They will have excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills, be confident supporting phonics and early reading development, and be able to build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues. Experience of supporting pupils with SEND, undertaking observations and assessments, and promoting children's communication, language and independence would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will be patient, flexible, reliable and committed to safeguarding, inclusion and helping every child achieve their full potential.
