Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Reception Class Teacher for a primary school in Stowmarket, Suffolk. This full-time, fixed-term role runs for one academic year starting January 2027, with salary on the MPS/UPS depending on experience.

You will plan and deliver Early Years Foundation Stage learning, balancing play-based and adult-led activities, while supporting phonics, early numeracy, observation of progress and strong parent relationships.

Qualifications

• QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong understanding of EYFS development.
• Ability to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Effective communication with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Provide a balance of play-based, child-initiated and adult-led activities.
• Support early phonics, communication, number recognition and physical development.
• Observe children and record progress towards developmental goals.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
• Work with the early years team to support transition and school readiness.
