Job summary

Motorsport Network, LLC is seeking a Real Time Systems Development Engineer to join the Simulator Development Team within the Simulation and Vehicle Modelling Group. You will work on real-time and HIL simulations, building models for gearboxes and drivetrains while collaborating across departments.

You will apply correlation techniques, develop tools, and advance the fidelity of simulations and controls, with a strong focus on performance and timely results in a high-performance motorsport

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Strong problem-solving, mathematical, and analytical skills.
  • Solid expertise in real-time systems, mechatronics, HIL simulators and controls.
  • Modeling experience across mechanical, hydraulic, thermal, and electrical systems, including correlation techniques.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly, concisely, and professionally, often to tight deadlines.
  • Calm, confident approach under pressure with a strong results-driven mindset.
  • Ideally, experience in automotive or within high-level motorsport in a similar role.
  • Experience with ECUs, electric motors actuation, servo drives, and hydraulic actuation and real-time OS would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Coding experience in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and other languages such as Python or C#.
  • Experience with tools such as DSPACE, DYMOLA, AVL-PUMA, System Monitor/TAG SECU, ATLAS, Jira, Git or Bitbucket.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as EtherCAT and CAN would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • General understanding of numerical methods, optimisation, control theory, vehicle dynamics and performance simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing development of the Gearbox dyno and DIL simulator.
  • Develop, integrate, and maintain power unit, driveline, hydraulics and vehicle models for real-time use.
  • Apply correlation techniques to identify and resolve issues.
  • Work on real-time and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation solutions.
  • Develop and improve simulation and controls solutions to enhance the HIL’s fidelity.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of tools for setup, diagnostics, data display, simulation, and analysis.
  • Collaborate proactively across departments, contributing effectively to technical reviews.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies, and industry best practice.
