Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer to contribute to EW and FCA programmes in a hybrid role based in Luton. You will design, verify and optimise FPGA logic for high‑speed data movement and real‑time processing within mission‑critical systems.

Essential experience includes HDL/FPGA development, SoC-based designs, and a structured development lifecycle. You’ll collaborate across hardware, systems and software teams and participate in design reviews.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree-level knowledge in Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Experience in a structured engineering development lifecycle.
• Exposure to digital systems or hardware-proximate development.
• Awareness of high-speed interfaces (Ethernet, PCIe, JESD, LVDS).
• Hands-on system-level debug and test experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and verify FPGA logic for EW and FCA systems.
• Work on high-speed data movement and sensor interfaces.
• Translate requirements into FPGA architectures and implementations.
• Simulate and verify designs using structured methodologies.
• Support integration, bring-up and debug in complex hardware labs.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems and software teams.
• Participate in design and technical reviews across UK sites.
