Job summary

BCL Legal is assisting a leading national law firm in Birmingham to hire a Solicitor or Associate for its Housebuilder team. The role focuses on residential development work, providing cradle-to-grave support from land acquisitions to plot sales, with mentoring and career development in a market-leading property group.

The successful candidate will have at least 1 year PQE in commercial property and show strong academics, with a keen interest in housebuilder work.

The Role

As a Solicitor or Associate in the Birmingham office, you will:

• Support partners and senior lawyers on residential development work including acquisitions, disposals, site assembly, and land promotion
• Be exposed to a broad mix of real estate matters to ensure variety in your workload and a rounded foundation in property law
• Assist with client relationship management and business development initiatives
• Work directly with major national and regional housebuilders, gaining high-value experience and sector knowledge
• Build your technical expertise and commercial acumen in a high-performing, supportive team environment

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum of 1 year PQE in commercial property, ideally gained at a recognised real estate practice
• An interest in or exposure to the residential development or housebuilder sector (not essential but advantageous)
• Strong academics and a high level of technical proficiency
• A team-oriented approach and excellent communication skills
• Ambition to develop your career and build strong client relationships
