Job summary

Notley High School and Sixth Form, part of Bridge Academy Trust, is seeking a Skilled and Committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Reading) to cover maternity leave from January 2027, supporting pupils who need help to develop their reading skill and confidence.

The role involves delivering targeted reading intervention across the school, collaborating with the SENDCo and Whole School Reading lead, and joining a welcoming team to uphold the Enjoy · Enrich · Achieve · Aspire ethos.

Qualifications

We are seeking a Skilled and Committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Reading) to cover maternity leave from January 2027, supporting pupils who need help to develop their reading skill and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted reading intervention and support across the school
• Work closely with the SENDCo and the Assistant Headteacher for Whole School Reading to identify and support pupils with reading needs

Qualifications and Experience

• Holds HLTA status (or equivalent relevant experience/qualification)
• Experience delivering structured reading intervention programmes
• Confidence in identifying and addressing gaps in pupils' reading ability

• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

Work Schedule

• 18 hours per week
• Term Time Only + 5 Inset Days (39 weeks a year)
• Fixed term covering maternity leave
