Job summary

Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury is seeking an Educational Teaching Assistant to join our Inclusion team. You will deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions, work one-to-one or in small groups, and support students to access the wider curriculum.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent standard).
• NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or an equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate information to students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

• Actively deliver high-impact interventions to rapidly improve student oracy, literacy, reading, transcription, and numeracy.
• Provide learning and intervention programmes to students one-to-one or in small groups, inside classrooms and specialist bases.
• Implement appropriate communication and access arrangements to ensure students with SEND can fully engage with the curriculum.
• Assist teachers and external agencies in assessing student needs, tracking progress, and providing accurate feedback on achievement and behaviour.
• Foster inclusion, support transitions between educational phases, and build trust with parents and carers.
