Job summary

Autism Plus in York is seeking a Positive Behaviour Support Partner to lead on daily PBS delivery, developing and implementing PBS Plans while maintaining a person-centred approach. You will work with care teams to assess needs and support staff through supervision and training.

Role emphasises coaching, mentoring and consistent documentation across incident reports and ABC charts, with strong collaboration with health and social care professionals to improve outcomes for the people we support.

In 1986 the Charity was created by a group of parents looking for the very best support for their children who were about to leave a specialist school. Once they reached the age of 17, they found there was little or no support. The belief set by our founding parents, to empower more people to live independent, fulfilling lives remains our focus today.

We employ over 350 people across the north of England in care support services, employment support and social enterprise businesses.

About the Role:

Hours: Full time position, 37.5 hours a week

Location: York

As a Positive Behaviour Support Partner you will believe in our ethos and values, and you will want to make a difference in someone’s life. The primary purpose of the PBS team is to lead on the day to day delivery of Positive Behaviour Support within the service, including the creation, continuous development and implementation of Positive Behavioural Support Plans. This will be carried out through regular assessment and observations of the people we support.

The PBS team work closely with staff teams to provide a consistent person centred approach, to share good practice, advise and upskill in the principles of PBS.

Key Responsibilities

- The timely construction of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans.

Review and adaptation of PBS plans in response to the level of need and best practice.

- Gathering information from a range of sources; direct observation, written, verbal and through supportive questioning of the person and support staff.

- Liaison with staff teams across the patch to aid with broader behavioural support needs.

- Support Team Managers to implement PBS plans.

Work in collaboration with Health and social care professionals involved in the care and support of our individuals.

- Support teams to create their own specific aids for the people we care for such as social stories, augmentative communication aids and sensory support.

- Ability to coach, mentor and act as a positive role model, consistently demonstrating best practice in documentation and recording standards (e.g., incident reports, ABC charts).

Teamwork

- Promote a collaborative team approach at all times.

- Demonstrate politeness, courtesy, and support towards all team members.

- Maintain flexibility in line with business needs, including working hours.

- Be available to provide cover for staff absences (e.g., sickness, annual leave).

- Assist with the induction and onboarding of new staff members.

- Work in accordance with training, agreed policies, practices, and procedures.
