Key Responsibilities:

Supervise whole classes of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students during the short-term absence of their regular subject teachers.

Deliver pre-planned lessons provided by the department, ensuring students remain focused, on-task, and working safely.

Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment using effective behaviour management techniques in line with school policies.

Assist students with any queries regarding the set work and provide encouragement to help them complete tasks.

Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and leave detailed handover notes for the returning class teacher.

Support school procedures regarding attendance, safety, and student welfare throughout the school day.

What We Look For:

Previous experience managing, leading, or supporting groups of young people (e.g., in secondary schools, sports coaching, youth clubs, tutoring, or outdoor education).

Excellent classroom presence, communication skills, and confidence to lead a group independently.

A calm, authoritative, and resilient personality paired with strong interpersonal skills.

High adaptability and a willingness to supervise lessons across a variety of secondary subjects (e.g., Science, English, PE, Humanities).

A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
