Job summary

Randstad Education in the King's Lynn area is recruiting flexible Secondary Cover Supervisors to support KS3 and KS4 across local schools. This role offers day-to-day cover or longer placements, with a focus on maintaining classroom focus and delivering pre-planned lessons.

Ideal candidates will have strong classroom presence, excellent communication and a calm, authoritative approach, plus a willingness to supervise a range of subjects. DBS check (Enhanced) or willingness to apply is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in supervising classes in secondary education or similar settings.
• Strong communication and classroom presence to lead groups independently.
• Willingness to supervise across a variety of KS subjects and age ranges.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes of KS3 and KS4 in the absence of teachers.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and keep students focused and safe.
• Maintain an orderly, productive classroom environment with effective behaviour management.
• Assist students with queries and provide encouragement to complete tasks.
• Collect completed work and leave detailed handover notes for the class teacher.
• Support attendance, safety and student welfare throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise whole classes of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students during the short-term absence of their regular subject teachers.

• Deliver pre-planned lessons provided by the department, ensuring students remain focused, on-task, and working safely.

• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment using effective behaviour management techniques in line with school policies.

• Assist students with any queries regarding the set work and provide encouragement to help them complete tasks.

• Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and leave detailed handover notes for the returning class teacher.

• Support school procedures regarding attendance, safety, and student welfare throughout the school day.

What We Look For:

• Previous experience managing, leading, or supporting groups of young people (e.g., in secondary schools, sports coaching, youth clubs, tutoring, or outdoor education).

• Excellent classroom presence, communication skills, and confidence to lead a group independently.

• A calm, authoritative, and resilient personality paired with strong interpersonal skills.

• High adaptability and a willingness to supervise lessons across a variety of secondary subjects (e.g., Science, English, PE, Humanities).

• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
