Job summary

Victim Support is seeking an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) to deliver 1-2-1 support across Cumbria. The role is home-based with travel across Cumbria and requires driving. You will support those affected by changes to the Sentencing Act 2026 and provide emotional wellbeing interventions.

• Deliver one-to-one interventions that promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and recovery.
• Work closely with criminal justice process agencies and other partners to ensure victims are heard and their needs are prioritised.

• Proactively promote the service, raising awareness and improving access to services for all victims of sexual violence, abuse or exploitation.
• Follow safeguarding policies; collaborate with safeguarding leads and other agencies to address safeguarding concerns.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Cumbria Team as an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor working 18.75 hours. As an ISVA you will deliver 1-2-1 support to clients in the community across Cumbria. You will also be supporting anybody affected by the recent changes to the Sentencing Act 2026. The changes impact how and when prisoners are released to serve the rest of their sentence in the community.

This role is offered as a homebased role but with the expectation to travel across Cumbria.

About the Role

As a Independent Sexual Violence you will:

• Complete risk and needs assessments to address the specific needs of victims in line with VS operating procedures.
• Deliver one-to-one interventions that promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and recovery.
• Work closely with criminal justice process agencies and other partners to ensures that each victim is heard and their needs are prioritised.
• Proactively promote the service, raising awareness of services & working collaboratively with professionals to improve the access to and quality of services for all victims of sexual violence, abuse or exploitation
• Follow relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, working with safeguarding leads and other agencies to ensure an integrated approach to address any safeguarding concerns.
• Respond and support those affected by the Early Release Scheme

This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.
