Job summary

Clare House Care Home in Uxbridge is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the team in delivering nutritious meals for residents. You will help plate meals, assist chefs, and keep preparation areas clean, with a focus on high standards of food hygiene and resident satisfaction.

Working with the wider care home team, you will ensure food service runs smoothly for breakfasts, lunches and special events, while complying with COSHH and HACCP guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a kitchen environment delivering meals for residents.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork with kitchen and care home staff.

Clare House provides nursing, residential, convalescence and respite care, both short and long term. The majority of bedrooms are en-suite. It's important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence.

Situated in a quiet residential area of Uxbridge, the home, a converted cottage offers residents comfortable, light, spacious bedrooms and lounge areas surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens. A secluded courtyard and tranquil sensory garden gives residents places to relax and enjoy the views.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and tries to cater for all ethnic groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Clare House, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

So whether a loved one has a hobby or would like to take up a new one, there's lots of exciting activities to get involved in. From picnics in the garden and lunch clubs to pamper days and exercise groups, the care home has got a full social calendar.

You'll help us make health happen by:
  • Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents
  • Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines
  • Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home. You'll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience. Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you're comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
