Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a nationwide breakdown service based in Poole. You will service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces, typically 40 hours weekly across 5 days (Mon–Sat, 8am–8pm) with optional overtime.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally Level 3 (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, workshop or mobile role.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer02s location (driveway or office car park).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections).
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems (engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical).
• Use diagnostic tools/software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep up to date with automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers’ home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am – 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
