Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd advertises a Mobile Vehicle Technician role based in Truro, servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations such as driveways or office car parks. The role operates Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5pm, with one Saturday per month and overtime paid at 1.5x after 5pm.

The package includes a base salary of £40,170 (inclusive of LWA) with a strong OTE over £57,000, a pension scheme, and progression opportunities within a national breakdown company.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (or ideally Level 3).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, in workshop or mobile role.
• Ability to work independently, follow procedures and make decisions on the go.
• Customer-focused approach and a full UK driving licence (max 6 points).

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers and handle payments.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Truro

Pay / salary: £40,170 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £57,000

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
