Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking adaptable Teaching Assistants for day-to-day supply across Plymouth and surrounding areas. You will provide 1:1 support and flexible cover in mainstream primary classrooms. You will work with pupils with SEN (ASD, ADHD, SEMH), using practical strategies and collaborating with teachers to maintain a positive learning environment.

Hours follow standard school times (approx. 8:30 AM–3:30 PM), with complete flexibility to choose how many days you work each week, paid

Qualifications

• Prior experience with primary-aged children with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs).
• Patient, resilient and proactive approach to managing behaviour and supporting learning.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with local school staff.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualifications, or care/youth work background.

Teaching Assistant - Day-to-Day Supply (Primary Schools)

Are you looking for flexible classroom work across Plymouth that fits your schedule while making a real impact? We are seeking adaptable, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to provide day-to-day supply cover and 1:1 support across mainstream primary schools in Plymouth and the surrounding local areas.

Role & Responsibilities

Provide flexible, 1:1 or small-group support to primary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH).

Adapt classroom activities on the fly to match individual learning styles and capabilities.

Use practical strategies, such as visual schedules and sensory tools, to support emotional regulation and keep pupils engaged.

Help build pupils' confidence, social communication skills, and independence in the classroom.

Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCos, and school staff to maintain a consistent environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

Prior experience working with primary-aged children with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs).

Strong communication skills to liaise quickly with local school staff.

An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply).

What We Offer

Pay:

£92.56 - £95.00 per day (paid weekly via PAYE).

Hours:

Standard school hours (approx. 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, term time only).

Flexibility:

Complete control over your availability-work as many or as few days a week as you like.
