Job summary

Tiverton High School is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant to join the SEND team. You will work with teachers to support pupils in lessons, deliver targeted interventions and promote inclusion, helping students access learning and build confidence.

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:15am–3:15pm with a 30-minute unpaid break. Requirements include NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, and experience supporting students with SEN.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent required.
• GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above.
• Experience of supporting students with SEN.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and SEN policies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in lessons alongside teachers.
• Deliver targeted interventions to learners who need it.
• Promote inclusion and provide pastoral support.
• Liaise with outside agencies to deliver EHCP provisions.
• Communicate pupil progress to the SEND team and parents as needed.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with students who require additional support, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and make excellent progress both academically and personally.As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SEND team to support students in lessons, deliver targeted interventions, promote inclusion and provide pastoral support where needed. You will play a vital role in helping students feel safe, valued and successful in school.

Job requirements

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent as a minimum

GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above

Experience of supporting students with SEN and utilising strategies to manage behaviours and meet needs, including supporting speech and language

Awareness of Child Safeguarding and the latest SEN policies to implement effective provision, including working with outside agencies to deliver EHCP provisions

Ability to effectively communicate on the pupil’s progress, with strong written and verbal communication skills
