Job summary

Dimensions is recruiting a Support Worker (Female) to cover MAT leave for two colleagues in a warm, supportive home in Tingley. You will join a dedicated team caring for four women with varying needs, promoting independence, daily activities, and community participation.

A UK driving licence is essential due to travel to local activities and appointments. The role runs Oct 2026–Oct 2027, with a competitive hourly rate and flexible shifts.

Support Worker - Female - MAT Leave Cover

Location: Tingley, Wakefield (13 min drive from Dewsbury and District Hospital)

Full Time - 2 positions available - 37.5 hours per week

Driver Licence: UK / EU Manual Driving Licence Required

The current pay rate of £14.01 per hour will be increasing to £14.59 per hour from 1st October.

About the role

This is a temporary opportunity, providing maternity cover for two colleagues from October 2026 to October 2027.

You’ll be joining a friendly, established home supporting four wonderful ladies, each with their own unique personalities, interests, and goals.

The ladies enjoy leading active and fulfilling lives, and no two days are ever the same. Whether it is visiting family, enjoying a game of bingo, dancing at a disco, catching the latest film at the cinema, going swimming, shopping, spending a day at the seaside, enjoying a pub lunch, or attending social events, you’ll play a key role in helping them make the most of every opportunity.

One of the ladies has her own vehicle, so a full UK driving licence is essential to support the ladies to access their local community and enjoy adventures further afield.

One of the ladies also uses a wheelchair and requires support with mobility, moving and assisting, and personal care. You’ll provide this support with dignity, respect, and encouragement, helping her maintain her independence and live life on her terms.

We’re looking for confident, caring, and motivated individuals who can provide not only practical support but also emotional reassurance, building trusting relationships that make a real difference every day.

As a Support Worker, you’ll be empowering the ladies to live the lives they choose, achieve their goals, develop new skills, and maintain their independence.

Your role will include:

• Supporting the ladies to enjoy their hobbies, interests, and social activities
• Encouraging independence and choice in everyday life
• Providing emotional support, reassurance, and companionship
• Assisting with personal care in a respectful and person‑centred way
• Supporting with medication administration
• Helping with household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry
• Supporting attendance at appointments, family visits, holidays, and days out

Shifts

There are a variety of day shifts, some with sleep shifts, varying between 8-14 hours.

This includes a combination of weekdays and weekends and bank holidays.

Rotas are provided at least 4 weeks in advance to support a healthy work life balance - something we’re very passionate about!
