Job summary

Wolviston Management Services Limited is seeking a reliable Maintenance Operative / Handyperson to support Whessoe Engineering at its Darlington office. This part-time, fixed-term role involves keeping the office and facilities in good order, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs.

You will paint and decorate areas, handle basic handyman tasks, and assist with PAT testing or training where needed, while ensuring safe, high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience in general building maintenance or facilities upkeep.
• Confident using hand tools and completing basic repairs.
• Practical painting and decorating skills.
• Experience of PAT testing, or willing to undertake training.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Wolviston Management Services is recruiting a reliable, practical and experienced Maintenance Operative / Handyperson to support Whessoe Engineering at its Darlington offices.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining a safe and tidy workplace, and is confident carrying out a variety of general building maintenance tasks.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for helping to keep the office building and facilities in good working order, undertaking routine maintenance and dealing with minor repairs as required.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out general building maintenance and minor repairs.
• Painting, decorating and touching up office areas.
• Undertaking basic handyman tasks, including minor fixtures and fittings repairs.
• Carrying out PAT testing, where appropriately trained and competent.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors.
• Supporting general office and facilities upkeep.
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and to a good standard.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience in general building maintenance, facilities upkeep or handyman work.
• Is confident using hand tools and completing basic repairs.
• Has practical painting and decorating skills.
• Has experience of PAT testing, or is willing to undertake appropriate training.
• Can work independently and manage their own workload.
• Is reliable, flexible and takes pride in their work.
