Job summary

GCIL South Lanarkshire is seeking a friendly Female Personal Assistant to support an independent-minded woman in Strathaven. You will provide one-to-one care at home, at day centres and in the community, helping with personal care and daily living activities to promote independence.

You will drive to appointments, assist with mobility and exercises, prepare meals, and support participation in social activities.

Job description

Female Personal Assistant/Support Worker Ref: ES/SF/11-25 (GCIL South Lanarkshire)

We are looking for a friendly reliable Female Personal Assistant to support an independent-minded mid 60-year-old female in the Strathaven area.

You would be required to provide one to one care and assistance within their home, at day centre and in the community including attending to personal care and participation in social activities to maintain and increase independence. Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:

• Driving to appointments, social groups and community activities
• Moving and assisting - pushing manual wheelchair, using Sara Steady, etc.
• Supporting with preparing meals and healthy snacks
• Supporting with exercise and physiotherapy ensuring safety at all times
• At times supporting personal care needs (toileting including bowel movements, etc.)
• Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living

What are we looking for?

• A confident driver is desirable but not essential, with a full clean UK licence as you will be required to drive a mobility vehicle.
• Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage the service user to be involved in activities suited to their needs.
• Pets in the household – you must be comfortable working with a dog in the home.
• Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
• The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Hours of Work

We expect the hours of work to be approx. 2.5 – 3 hrs a day Monday - Friday (with a degree of flexibility depending on the needs of the service user).

Occasional weekends and evenings may be required – to be discussed at interview

Hourly rate: £18.00 per hour
