Job summary

HRGO Recruitment are seeking experienced School General Catering Assistants to work in Thurrock, Essex. The role is temporary, Monday to Friday, 10:00am–2:00pm, at £13.29 per hour. DBS must be registered to the Online Update Service. You will help prepare and serve meals, keeping high hygiene and customer service standards.

Successful candidates will assist with kitchen tasks, dining area setup/clearing, and follow health and safety guidelines while supporting a busy school environment.

Qualifications

• Previous catering or food service experience is required.
• DBS enhanced (registered on Online Update Service) is required.
• Basic Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to the school menu.
• Serve food to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Assist with setup and clearing of the dining area before and after meal times.
• Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries.
• Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Catering Manager.

Paying: £13.29 per hour

You MUST hold a valid enhanced DBS registered to the online DBS update service.

Successful candidate will assist in the preparation and serving of meals to students and staff, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to the school menu.
• Serve food to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Assist with the setup and clearing of the dining area before and after meal times.
• Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with inventory management, including receiving and storing deliveries.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Catering Manager.

• Previous experience in a catering or food service role is required.

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings and afternoons.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items (pots, pans etc)
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
