Job summary

Holroyd Howe, a leading UK contract caterer for independent schools, is looking for a Catering Team Member at Elstree School. The role covers day-to-day food service, ensuring pupils, staff and visitors receive high-quality meals served with care and efficiency.

This is a term-time position with 20–25 hours per week and shifts including a lunchtime window and one evening per week. You will join a supportive team, with access to bespoke training and development.

Qualifications

  • Ideally experience in contract or high-volume catering.
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, service, and presentation of food to a high standard.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen and service areas.
  • Assist with food labelling, temperature checks, and allergen controls.
  • Provide excellent customer service to pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Set up and clear service areas, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Follow all food safety, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Contribute to hospitality events and occasional out-of-hours functions.

Working Pattern

Various shifts on a rota. Candidates will need to be available between 12:00pm and 3:00pm on most weekdays, plus one evening per week.

Overtime

Occasional overtime available for events.

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable General Catering Assistant to support the day-to-day food and service delivery across Elstree School. This role is essential in ensuring pupils, staff, and visitors receive high-quality, nutritious meals served with care, efficiency, and attention to detail.

You will be joining Holroyd Howe, one of the UK’s leading contract caterers, providing fresh, innovative food services solely to independent schools and colleges. We are a team of experienced professionals who tailor our catering service provision specifically to suit children of all ages in order to meet the bespoke requirements of each school.

Due to the school's rural location, access to a car is recommended but not essential.
