Job summary

Amey is offering a Grounds Maintenance Operative role at HMP Long Lartin. You will work 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm with an hour earlier finish every Friday, and contribute to safe, well-kept prison grounds.

You will perform lawn care, hedge trimming, litter clearance, verge maintenance, weed spraying, tree care, sports pitch upkeep, painting, drainage works, and general FM duties while supporting zero-carbon initiatives and upholding H&S standards.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance: grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter clearance, verges, weed spraying, tree care, planting and seeding.
• Erect and dismantle equipment; operate light plant and power tools; check cutting equipment.
• Set out and maintain sports pitches (grass, tarmac) and upkeep artificial/synthetic pitches.
• Paint sundry equipment; drainage works.
• General housekeeping including litter picking; support zero-carbon programmes and policies.
• Ensure H&S standards across the contract.

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The Grounds Maintenance Operative plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What you will do:

General maintenance, such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, clearing leaves and litter, verges, weed spraying, tree care, horticulture activities such as. planting, pruning and seeding.

Erect and dismantle equipment, operating light plant and power tools, undertake cutting equipment checks.

Setting out, making sports pitches including grass and tarmac with upkeep of artificial, synthetic pitches in recreational areas.

Painting sundry equipment.

General good housekeeping, including litter picking around the grounds if required.

All other FM duties as required directed by team manager.

This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.

Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
