Job summary

Amey is seeking an on-site General Building Operative at HMP Hewell in England. The standard hours are 39 per week across a weekend-inclusive pattern, with a base salary of £28,792.

You will work as part of a team delivering planned and reactive maintenance in the prison environment. You will support tradespeople, perform DIY tasks, check safety, maintain cleanliness, and contribute to carbon reduction programs as part of the contract.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in DIY/general building maintenance.
• CITB relevant certification or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn new skills and to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
• Assist with contractor escorting and professional on-site support.
• Complete DIY tasks such as decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repairs.
• Check appliances, fittings and environment for safety, report defects to Team Leader.
• Maintain good housekeeping and grounds upkeep as required.
• Support local and business zero carbon programmes as appropriate.
• Ensure Health & Safety standards are achieved across the contract.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-siteGeneral Building Operative in HMP Hewell .

The standard hours of work are

39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place).

The base salary

is £28,792.

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The General Building Operative plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What you will do:

• Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
• Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
• Complete tasks associated with DIY such as Decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repair of items around the prison.
• Check appliances, fittings and general environment are in good working order and all defects reported to Team Leader.
• General good housekeeping, including litter picking and landscaping around the grounds if required.
• All other FM duties as required directed by team manager.
• Thisrole will also support both local and businesszero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in astrategicand lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
• Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
