Job Description
We are looking for a practical and customer-focused individual with experience in multi-trade maintenance, first-line fault diagnosis and routine building services activities.
The successful candidate will understand the limits of their competence, follow approved safety procedures and work collaboratively with qualified specialists when required.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across building fabric, plumbing, mechanical systems and authorised electrical tasks.
Diagnose faults, complete minor repairs and safely reinstate equipment.
Escalate specialist, statutory or qualified trade work as required.
Complete routine PPMs, inspections, adjustments and meter readings.
Undertake general fabric repairs and minor plumbing maintenance.
Support water hygiene activities, including temperature checks and outlet flushing.
Perform authorised fire alarm and emergency lighting routine tests.
Maintain accurate records and communicate progress, risks and service impacts.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Skills and Experience
Basic electrical maintenance awareness for non-complex authorised tasks.
Experience in building fabric repairs, plumbing, mechanical maintenance and fault finding.
Understanding of safe systems of work, permits, risk assessments and COSHH procedures.
Knowledge of competence limits and when to refer work to specialist engineers.
Competent using hand tools and portable maintenance equipment.
Water hygiene and life-safety check training where required.
Strong customer service, record-keeping and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
Level 2 qualification in a relevant trade, building maintenance, plumbing, mechanical services or similar discipline; or
Demonstrable time-served multi-trade maintenance experience.
PASMA or IPAF certification where relevant to the role.
