Job summary

Mereside Community Centre Association seeks a cleaner-caretaker for a 4-hour-per-week role with potential extra hours. You will help maintain a welcoming, tidy centre for classes, meetings and family events.

The role requires reliability, basic health and safety awareness, and the ability to work independently or with a small team. The centre operates daily, including weekends, with shifts likely on Friday to Sunday and occasional early mornings or evenings when the centre closes.

Cleaner / caretaker - 4 hours per week, plus extra hours on occasion

Our vibrant community centre needs a cleaner-caretaker to maintain high standards of cleanliness and a friendly welcome for local groups running classes, meetings and family events. Hours 4 per week on a Friday - Sunday shift pattern often early morning and/or late, when the centre closes.

Applicants should ideally be;

Able to provide a welcoming, friendly and helpful presence for centre users

Reliable and punctual: able to consistently meet scheduled shifts and responsibilities

Strong ability to work effectively alone but within a small team

Practical and Resourceful: Possess health and safety knowledge, have admin ability, cleaning and basic gardening skills

Conscientious: Take pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and functional centre environment, both inside and out

Independent: Able to work effectively without close supervision and manage time efficiently with your colleague, line manager and specific members of the management committee.

Flexible: Willing to offer holiday cover. Able to provide extra cover from time to time across a 7-day per week work schedule.

Collaborative: Able to work closely with the other caretakers to ensure full centre coverage and deal together with issues that come up

Able to be present in the unusual event of alarm call outs, possibly during anti-social hours

The centre is open every day, usually from 9am - 10pm.
