Job summary

HRGO Recruitment is seeking an experienced CNC Miller in Hertfordshire (Royston/Melbourn area) for a permanent day-shift role. The job involves setting, operating, and programming a 5-axis CNC milling machine to produce small-batch parts to tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment.

Key tasks include interpreting drawings, performing first-off and in-process inspections, and maintaining safe practices.

Qualifications

• 5-axis CNC milling with setting/operating/programming
• Experience on FANUC controls is required
• Fusion 360 programming experience is essential
• Ability to read drawings and tolerances; right-first-time
• Reliable, team-focused and able to work independently
• 37.5 hours per week, 9:00am–5:00pm

Location: In the Melbourn - Royston area, Hertfordshire - Own transport recommended due to location

Salary guide: £35,000-£40,000 per annum (DOE) + Overtime Rate

We are recruiting an experienced CNC Miller to join a growing precision engineering business producing high-quality, technically demanding components; this is a permanent, day-shift opportunity for a hands-on machinist who takes pride in setting, operating and programming a 5-axis CNC milling machine to deliver small-batch parts to tight tolerances within a skilled engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set, operate and program CNC milling machines
• Operate and edit programs on FANUC controls (any other Controls experience considered)
• Create, modify and prove-out

Fusion 360 (CAD/CAM)

• Interpret engineering drawings and work to specification/tolerances
• Complete first-off and in-process inspection (quality checks and basic documentation)
• Maintain safe working practices, housekeeping, and support routine machine care
• Work to production schedules and support continuous improvement

Required skills & experience

• Strong background in CNC milling with setting/operating/programming capability
• Proven 5-axis experience (set-up and machining)
• Fusion 360 programming experience (essential)
• Good understanding of drawings, tolerances, and a right-first-time approach
• Reliable, team-focused, and able to work independently when required
• 37.5 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm
